For too long power has been centralized around who wields the most money. We have forgotten the strength of banding together, uniting around a common cause. The zeitgeist is centered around competition and not cooperation. In institutions goals are set on a short term basis. Politicians are reelected every 4 years, companies seek to gear their investments around delivering a yearly profit of minimum 7% to their owners. So there is little incentive to plan any further in advance. This emphasis on the now, leads us, as a race, to goals that are unhealthy, not only for society but for each and everyone of us.
● Products with built in obsolescence
● A looming environmental crisis, promising to flood us all
● A global population fixated on immediate gratification
● A zeitgeist centered around quick profits and stepping on each other to get ahead.
We have to return to listening, thinking and basing our decisions around well thought out arguments and rationales. We have to go long, go full curve.
Everyone brings value. Different perspectives yield different thoughts. Insights come in many forms. We can’t all be masters of all disciplines and intelligences. Our experiences shape our thoughts. We need a diverse mix to gain a Full Curve
We have to accept that we disagree. People are different, thoughts are different, but for 90% of us, the overarching goals are the same.
Tribal mentalism is obsolete. We have to recognise that we are one race and that our ultimate goal is survival. Throughout the ages leaders have turned us against each other to preserve their power. We should govern ourselves and set goals that aim to ensure the longevity of our race. Goals that are not dictated by instant gratification and aimed at amassment of wealth into individual hands.
